UK wedding budget calculator

The quickest reality-check there is: your budget divided by your guest count, set against the typical UK spend a head. Nearly every wedding cost scales with numbers, so cost per guest tells you more than the total. Nothing you type leaves your device.

How much does a UK wedding cost?

The typical UK wedding runs to around £20,000, or roughly £275 a guest outside London (higher in the capital), based on Bridebook and Hitched surveys for 2026. These are a general guide, not a target, and your wedding can sit happily either side of them. Because venue and catering scale with numbers, the guest list is the single biggest lever on the total: trimming or adding guests moves the budget more than almost anything else.

Watch the hidden costs. Many venue, catering and marquee quotes show a price before the service charge (often 10–15%), and some quote before VAT at 20%, which is a large sum on a big line. Add a little for gratuities too. The reckoner here estimates those so the headline figure stays honest. This is an estimate to plan with, not financial advice; get your own quotes before you commit.
