Where your money goes on an Etsy sale

Etsy takes several fees from every order, and they stack up fast. There's a listing fee of about £0.16 per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the whole order (item plus the shipping you charge), payment processing of 4% plus £0.20, and a small regulatory operating fee. If a sale comes through an Offsite Ad, Etsy adds 12–15% on top, capped at about £80. And unless you're VAT-registered, Etsy charges 20% VAT on its own fees, a cost many sellers miss.

What's left after fees and your own costs (materials, postage, packaging and your time) is your real profit. This calculator uses verified UK 2026 fee rates and runs entirely in your browser. It's a per-sale estimate; your actual fees can shift slightly with currency conversion on the listing fee.
