The package, line by line

Follow what is owed and what tax takes off it

The planner keeps genuine redundancy pay separate from earnings such as PILON, holiday pay and unpaid wages, because the tax treatment is different.

Statutory floor

Work out the legal minimum

Apply the age bands, latest 20 years of service, weekly-pay cap and overall statutory maximum, with the working shown.

Enhanced offer

Compare the employer offer with statutory pay

Enter the total redundancy amount offered and see how much it sits above the calculated legal minimum.

£30,000 split

Separate tax-free redundancy pay

Split genuine redundancy pay at the £30,000 limit and keep the excess distinct from other taxable earnings.

Tax and NI

Estimate deductions on taxable parts

Use the 2026/27 rest-of-UK or Scottish income-tax bands and employee National Insurance on earnings such as PILON.

Notice

See the notice period applied

Compare statutory notice with a longer contractual period and keep PILON, worked notice and garden leave in context.

Runway

Turn the take-home into months covered

Combine the net package with savings, subtract essential monthly outgoings and add optional income from a future job.

From the package to the next step

Plan the gap after the job ends

The estimate becomes a runway rather than stopping at the take-home figure.

  • Month-by-month balance as essential spending draws the money down
  • Optional new monthly income and the month it begins
  • Bridge verdict showing whether that income arrives before funds run low
  • Pension-contribution awareness when part of the package is taxable
  • Checklist covering P45, pension, benefits, Acas and Citizens Advice
  • Print the summary or copy the figures

Private by design

Your redundancy figures stay on your device

It does not sync automatically between computers. Export a JSON backup when you want to move the planner or keep a separate copy.

Frequently asked

Before you buy

Which computers and browsers does it work on?

It works on Windows, Mac and Linux computers in a modern version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox.

Does it cover Northern Ireland?

The income-tax option can use rest-of-UK rates, but the statutory redundancy calculation is for England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland has different statutory limits and is out of scope.

Is the £30,000 tax-free limit applied to everything I receive?

No. The limit applies to qualifying redundancy compensation. PILON, holiday pay and unpaid wages are treated as earnings and estimated with income tax and National Insurance.

Does it tell me whether the redundancy process is fair?

No. It estimates money and runway. It does not assess consultation, selection, unfair dismissal, tribunal claims or settlement-agreement value. Contact Acas, Citizens Advice or a solicitor for advice.

Does it calculate benefits entitlement?

No. The checklist points you towards official information, but the planner does not decide which benefits you can claim.

Are the tax and runway figures guaranteed?

No. They are estimates from the information and assumptions entered. Tax treatment depends on the package and personal circumstances, and the runway depends on future spending and income.
